A chilly reception

Well, that didn't take long!

We just got over a summer in which we set a new all-time record for days in which the temperature reached 90° or higher.  The new record: it was that hot every day.  No, but there were something like 60 tar-melting days out of the summer in which we hit the big 9-0.

And so, at long last, a cold front came along, accompanied by rain (a "rain event," in meteorologist parlance) and the temperature was chilly yesterday.  In the 50s.

And dag if people weren't running around turning heat on and complaining that it was so cold!  By people, of course, all I know about is what people on radio and tv have to say, because I'm not out and about.  But there they were, radio talk show callers and television anchors - wearing sweaters!  And grumbling about how COLD it was!

After a summer that they spent complaining about how HOT it was.

I know plenty of people who run their AC all summer to get the house down to something like 70 degrees - and then, the minute the thermostat drops below 70, on comes the heat.

I'm just sayin'.  Hold on...here comes autumn and then you know what? Winter!  What WILL we do?
