So, what did you do over the weekend? Maybe you went to a birthday party, maybe you took in a show or a movie, maybe you took naps, maybe you grilled some burgers...
But if you are Cole Hetzel, Chris Hetzel, Tony Centers, or Bob Schoettinger from out of Erlanger, KY, you were part of a foursome setting a new Guinness World Record by playing 2,097 holes of miniature golf in 24 hours.
Hetzel, Hetzel, Centers, and Schoettinger teed off on Sunday morning and sank their last puts yesterday morning, eclipsing the former record set in 2005, when a team from Germany played 1,440 holes.
These fellows from Kentucky are regulars at Putt-Putt Golf of Erlanger.
They even made sure it was official by having scorers on hand to tick off the strokes. Of course, once the evidence will be submitted to Guinness for verification, they will be "in the book."
And this is not just a way for four mini-golf pals to spend a day. As you heard, there were floods in Eastern Kentucky late last week, and tornadoes in both Goshen and Mayfield, and this exhibition was geared to raise money for Matthew:25 Ministries and their relief efforts.
Cole Hetzel is a 2021 high school graduate now attending DePauw University. He enjoys sports and setting unique records with his father, Chris. Their previous endeavors have included 30-hour backyard wiffleball marathons.
Sounds like a fun family to me!
