Beautiful sunset scene such as we often enjoy at this time of year, but remember the insect repellent, because mosquitoes are enjoying a banner year in Maryland.
Peggy was kind enough to snap this one for me as we made our way down Belair Rd one sunny afternoon. What's more American than a fervent prayer for God to bless America with a nice set of Firestone retreads?
One thing about inventors is, they can't stop. Inventing the Slinky was great, and tens of millions of us chased those coils all over town. But inventing toys to use to play with your toy was like piling a strawberry shortcake on top of a milkshake.
I love old LIFE and Saturday Evening POST magazines from the days when there were undercover commies all over the place and young men wore bowties to take their best girl to the malt shop.
But back then, when you got the big 64-pack of Crayolas, you never dreamed that American Crayon Technology would enable such wondrous carvings as these.
At one time, it was the thing to get married and plant two trees astride the walkway, and then merge the two unto one.
This is the original Star-Spangled Banner that flew over Baltimore's Fort McHenry in 1814, inspiring our national anthem and, later, the creation of Space Force.
I'll leave this here and wait for the art historians among us to tell us which school this artist came from. The exquisite photorealism of the face and the impressionism of the surroundings make quite a contrast.
