They're already wearing tuxedos

In the animal kingdom, they seem to be more accepting of the lifestyles of others.

I say this because at an aquarium in Spain, a couple of gentoo penguins are raising a baby chick they adopted as an egg.

And - clutch your pearls - they're both FEMALE!

Electra and Violet built a nest over at the Oceanogràfic València. They made a nest of stones and "began to have the usual attitude and actions prior to reproduction," according to an official news release.

Since they were into family prepping, their caregivers let them adopt and incubate another penguin couple's egg. Now, Electra and Violet are proud parents of a baby penguin which will become independent after about 75 days.

75 days from birth to independence! How many humans would wish for the same?

In the world of penguins, parents take turns doing the incubating, which is about a 38-day process.

Oceanogràfic València says that same-sex adoption is fairly common in the zoo world, but this is their first time around for it. There have been same-sex penguin families in zoos in London, Berlin, and Sydney.

What's more, the zoo says, same-sex pairs happen in over 450 animal species - in the wild and in the zoos.

But they all have the advantage of not having self-righteous fools complaining because two people love each other and want to live together.
