It happened last week in Alameda County, California. Police received a call about an abandoned baby squirrel, and Animal Control Officer Onesko went down to Fairview Avenue and High Street to check it out.
She could tell there was a nest high up in a nearby tree, and this little guy or gal fell down and (one supposes) landed on something soft. When Officer Onesko got there, she cared for the neonate and took it to the Yggdrasil Urban Wildlife Rescue (YUWR). They are caring for him/her, and when she/he is ready for it, they will arrange for a safe release back home on Alameda County.
Click here to learn what the word Yggdrasil means, and let's all hope we get a postcard or email from this cute little critter!
We have to look our for our fellow creatures here on earth. After all, they look out for us!
