The Saturday Picture Show, November 2, 2019

Today's free wallpaper is of a place I would love to walk.
To those who cry, "Speak English!" I can only say, why limit yourself?
Every restaurant, every big kitchen, every grocery store has one of these. It's a walken cooler.
How long has it been since we had a picture of a baby warthog meeting a meerkat?
Only in American cuisine could you find something with a crazy mixed-up name like "Chicken Fried Steak."  Now someone needs to invent Turkey Baked Ham.
I will admit to picking these up in libraries, grocery stores, and firehouses I have frequented. The writing was basic, the emotions universal, and the appeal widespread, as long as you didn't mind that it was all made up.
It has been ten years now since the Great Balloon Boy Hoax of 2009, and several television interviews this past week showed us that the Heene family, now living in Florida, is certainly in a state that deserves them. You would have to go a long, long way to find a more bizarre collection of nincompoops.
Bun E. Carlos achieved fame as the drummer for Cheap Trick, and he used to claim that he was born in Venezuela as "Carlos E. Bunezuela." It turned out that he was born in far-less-exotic Rockford, Illinois as Brad M. Carlson, but none of that changes my opinion that he is the finest drummer ever born, narrowly edging out Keith Moon, who was born with that name, apparently just south of the Moon.
