2018 kid names

For the benefit of all of you planning to have babies soon (and for those of you NOT planning any such thing), here they are: the most popular baby names for the year.  Jackson has been #1 for naming boys for the last 6 years, and Olivia has reigned at the top of girl names for nine years running. Well, not running. Babies don't run; the best you can get out of them is a crawl.

I notice that the Heather-Jessica-Nicole era for girls and the Justin-Josh-Jason days for boys are over for now, and also the craze for giving children names that have to do with vocations or avocations - Hunter, Fisher, Rider, Walker. I don't recall that it ever got to where kids were named Jogger, although Waylon Jennings had a son named Shooter.

And once again, I bemoan the lack of little boys named Elvis, Ralph, Earl, or Leon. And whatever happened to little girls named Trixie, Cookie, and Harriet?

They grew up and married Ralph, Earl, and Leon.
