Crime Story

There was a time when there were malls in America, full of people working and stores and shoppers and Auntie Anne's pretzels.

One of the popular aspects of our once-glorious White Marsh Mall, where the few shoppers remaining on the promenades hear echoes and see tumbleweeds, was live mannequins in store windows...generally women who had the ability to stand without so much as a flinch and wink.

Flinch &  Wink would have been a better name for a store than Crabtree & Evelyn, but no one asked me.

Anyway, a guy in Poland tried something similar, standing in front of a store faking like a mannequin.

And then he stole stuff from the shopping center after it closed!

"A 22-year-old with a bag in his hand froze motionless, pretending to be a mannequin in front of a shop window," police said in a statement. "In this way, he wanted to avoid being exposed by the cameras."

He stole jewelry from a jewelry store, and once he slipped into a clothing store and swapped his old clothes for their new clothes. He also stole money from cash register tills around the mall.

The Polish Police say he could face ten years in prison, and let's see him try standing motionless in the Big House!
