This is history for sure. They dated the invoice two days later, but on January 4, 1954, Elvis drove his Crown Electric truck to Memphis Recording and made a record, singing two songs for his mother's birthday. His recordings of "It Wouldn't Be The Same Without You" and "I’ll Never Stand In Your Way" came to the attention of Sam Phillips, who ran the recording company and Sun Records, and he asked The King to come and maybe make a few more records. Magic ensued.
