Limeade

I once heard a kid call limes "green lemons," but they’re different.

Whether or not we straighten out this tariff situation with Mexico, that nation will still observe their Cinco de Mayo on May 5. That's the day in 1862 when Mexico defeated France  at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.

It's a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, to be precise, but Americans are always looking for a reason to break out the Tiki torches and have a par-tay. And that means margaritas for a Mexican theme party, and if those tariffs go into effect. As it is, grocers always jack up the price of limes when the calendar flips over to May, as soon as they finish counting all the money they just pocketed by raising egg prices for Easter.

So, while your party host is leaving a tip jar on the bar to offset the price hike, you can entertain your fellow revelers by telling them that lemons float in a tub of water, while limes in the same tub will sink, and here's why...

Limes are slightly denser than lemons. Your physics teacher would tell you the lime's mass is more concentrated by volume. That makes your average Louie Lime heavier, relative to size, than Lefty Lemon.

Enjoy your margaritas 🍹!
