Stormy

I think it's funny, how life comes along and takes control of your...life.

As in, last week, I was thinking that I want to replace the lanterns that hang on either side of our garage door, and the one standing on a post in the yard near the driveway, because the current ones have sensors on them that went crazy a while back...so they tend to come on at 3 in the afternoon and turn off when it gets dark. Not good, and totally against the job description for a lantern.

So I made a mental note to slide by The Home Depot and get some new ones.  That was Thursday.

Imagine this scene repeated hundreds of times.
Friday, as many of you know, all hell broke wind around here, and we had sustained winds up in the 60-70 mph range all day. And we were very lucky, very lucky. I mean, I have friends who as of this typing (Monday night) have not had electricity, or heat, or cable/internet service since Friday. Many others have had great damage to their house or their car. A woman, 77, up the road a piece in Kingsville, went to get her mail Friday and was killed by a falling tree limb. There were tens of thousands of locals, commuters and travelers stuck on I-95 and US 40 up in Havre de Grace when trucks and trains jumped the trail. Further north, people in New England dealt with flooding and erosion.

This storm was really hell on this earth, and I am sorry that so many suffered loss and expense and discomfort. But here at the Lazy 'C' Ranch, outside of the internet service dropping off on and on all weekend, the only problem we had is really not a problem at all.

I wanted to get rid of the lantern on a post. The post still stands, but the lantern took flight Friday evening, and is somewhere 'twixt here and the highway as of now.

And of course, this March comin' in like a lion means it will be goin' out like a lamb, so there you go.
